I am the best unheard, awon rappers yi, won po to,these niggas too old for the game KANU!!!!!

Oh crap…Im here already, totally forgot, got carried away by Ripstar’s music. So today we at G.Y.E present to you Ripstar.Ive got one question, have you heard his Omoba freestyle????Mehn thats song is such a chune!!!!!This is one talented young individual and you should definitely look out for him.Enough of my rants, we present to you Ripstarrr!!!!!! ;)

1.WHO IS RIPSTAR?

Ripstar is a rapper/songwriter with a great vision for music (without trying to be cocky…:))….LOL

2.CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND(EDUCATIONAL,FAMILY)?

I was brought up in a God fearing household with loving parents. I have two brothers and spent the first 15 years of my life in Lagos, Nigeria, I did my A-levels and university in England. Now I’m here answering interview questions, time has moved very fast. lol

3.WHEN DID YOU REALIZE MUSIC WAS YOUR CALLING?

Well I always loved music but I would say between the ages of 12 and 13 was when I really took my craft seriously, writing rhymes and practising performances in my room, lol. Then as time went along it all became clear to me that I can actually do this. In secondary school, I would always get in freestyle battles, and I’ve pretty much gone where the music has taken me since then.

4.WHAT GENRE ARE YOU INTO AND WHY?

Hmmm I really cannot categorise myself into any genre seeing as I have a wide variation of musical influences but I would say that hip-hop is the base of my sound.

5.HOW DO YOU MANAGE YOUR STUDIES & MUSICAL CAREER TOGETHER?

What studies? Just kidding…… Its all about time management really and finding the right balance between recording, performing and going to lectures. I’m done with my degree now and I intend to devote more time to my music.

6.BEING A YOUNG ARTISTE COMES WITH A LOT OF CRITICISM AND DISAPPROVAL ESPECIALLY FROM PARENTS ,HOW DO YOU COPE WITH THAT?

They know nothing about it. So please lets keep this a secret…..LOL. As far as criticism goes, as long as I do right musically by myself and my team, what anyone else has to say is just an opinion so I just take it in and move on because I strive to constantly get better in all aspects of my life.

7.WE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU HAVE PERFORMED AT A COUPLE OF SHOWS CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THEM?

Well yeah I have performed at a couple of venues. I love performing it gives me a chance to really connect with the listeners. I’ve also had some very funny/awkward moments, there was this one time in Cardiff during a performance a lady came up to me and took off her top. It was pretty distracting to say the least but I had to keep performing.

8.WHAT HAS BEEN THE GREATEST MOMENT OF YOUR MUSICAL CAREER?

Well I can’t really say because I believe my greatest moments still lie ahead of me. As far as right now, all I can say is things are going well, I feel very blessed at the moment all thanks to God.

9.OUTSIDE THE MUSIC SCENE WHO IS RIPSTAR?

I’m a regular guy. I like to have a good time; I like to chill sometimes. But still music is a big part of me so it tends to follow around wherever I go. I guess you can say I am nothing without music. Lol

10.ARE YOU SINGLE?LOL

Yes I am.

11.APART FROM MUSIC DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER AREAS OF INTEREST?

No as I said earlier!!! just joking..To be more specific I love football, I watch a lot of tv sitcoms, I like movies, clubbing, I adore female attention, you know “young” people stuff.

12.DO YOU INTEND ON GOING INTO MUSIC FULL TIME?

Thats the dream…

13.WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS?

In the next 10 years, I hope to have touched over a million people with my music. Have a grammy on my shelf and be a source of inspiration to new aspiring musicians by the grace of God

14.THERE ARE A COUPLE OF YOUNG ARTISTES IN THE NIGERIAN MUSIC INDUSTRY,WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT?

I would say Just for the fact I’m me really. I just do me when I make music, loads of people told me not to release a mixtape I did in pretty much a day but that was just how I was feeling and it’s important to do right by you.

15. GROWING UP,WHO WERE YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?

I think really music and hip hop in general have had a big influence on my life which reflects in my music. I grew up listening to Fela, Outkast, Jay–z, kool g rap and definitely Michael Jackson but which kid wasn’t really a Michael lover? Lol.

16. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE NIGERIAN MUSIC INDUSTRY IS LACKING AND CAN YOU FILL THE VOID?

I personally think it could do with more diversity in a sense in terms of the amount of genres in our music industry. This would allow for more creativity, which is what I aim to bring, diversity; but with that said I am very happy at the progress that has been made in our industry thus far.

17.DO YOU WRITE YOUR OWN RAPS/SONGS?

haha, no smiley mehn. When I actually do need to write, I do it myself, I am a rapper and a songwriter. Although a lot of the time I don’t even write

18WHATS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND YOUR SONGS?

Inspiration comes from an infinite amount of sources so it could be anything at all. For example the day I made blanket of a grey sky, which is a bonus track on my freestyle sessions mixtape; the sky was grey and the day was just so dull and it sort of affected the general mood around me and I just laid that on a track while sending my message across.

19. IS THERE AN ALBUM OR MIXTAPE IN THE WORKS AND WHEN CAN WE EXPECT IT TO DROP?

“The Freestyle Sessions” is currently out and available for download. I love that mixtape just because of how spontaneous and effortless it was while still being a great listen but I have been working on my mixtape called “the best unheard” which is full of original work from me. its 80% done and the songs are coming along quite beautifully. I’m really excited about it!!!

20. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER UPCOMING ARTISTES?

Passion, patience, persistence, prayer

21.ANY LAST WORDS FOR YOUR FANS?

I’m grateful for all the support. Keep supporting and look forward to the “The Best Unheard”.

INTERVIEWS: G.Y.E PRESENTS JAMES ‘MAVRIK’ OSAGIE.

So basically we at G.Y.E had an interview a very special person today, most of you might know him already but to those who dont, I’m certain you’ve seen the Dj Xclusive Rebirth series, The Falz ‘Transform Ya’ video and the ShoFro ‘Ko eazy’ video, obviously those videos didnt just magically appear on your screen, there was one man behind all of them, yes just one man behind all those amazing videos and he goes by the name of Idahosa James Osagie, I must say this guy is a very talented individual, with no formal training whatsoever, he produced all those videos and Im certain he’s gonna blow up pretty soon, I think thats enough uintroduction, we at Gidi’s Young Enterprise(G.Y.E) present to you James Mavrik Osagie.

1.WHO IS JAMES MAVRIK OSAGIE?

Lol! That question has 2 answers to be honest. Idahosa James Osagie is the son of a Bishop, first born of 3 sons, proud uncle to the most beautiful niece in the world and possibly the realest dude you’ll meet. MäVrik is the “alter ego”. He isn’t scared of anyone, which sometimes gets him into trouble. Some people say he’s a bit cocky, in a good way. He’s a mad man too. Lol. MäVrik is the entertainer, Idahosa James Osagie is the quiet one. Lol.

2.CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND(EDUCATIONAL,FAMILY)?

I am the first child of Bishop & Pastor Mrs. Lawrence Osagie. I have been blessed with 2 younger, handsome brothers. I was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. I attended high school there before moving out here in 2005. I have various degrees (just like most Naija graduates lol) which are as follows: Diploma in Law, Certificate in Sound Engineering & Information Technology. I am currently back in uni studying Entertainment Technology just to give me more insight into what my craft is.

3.VIDEOGRAPHY IS SOMETHING THAT IS NOT SO COMMON IN NIGERIA, WHEN AND HOW DID YOU PICK IT UP?

Lol. I have always been a fan of filmmaking. I was exposed to it at a very early age. In my father’s church, we always had cameramen covering every sermon and that always distracted me from hearing the sermon (confession…lol). And at one point, I was opportuned to be on the set of a Nollywood movie that was never successful lol (Title: Better Late Than Never). On the set, my eyes got opened to the wonderful world of videography. I saw lights, cameras, sound systems, actors, actresses, make-up artists, etc and I knew at that tender age of 9 that film/video production was what I really wanted to do.

4. DID YOU UNDERGO ANY FORMAL TRAINING WHATSOEVER OR ITS JUST A GOD GIVEN TALENT?

It’s definitely a God-given talent. I never went to school to study video production. It’s a gift that I finessed right from the very first day I laid my tiny hands on “Windows Movie Maker”. Lol. But now that things are getting pretty serious, I felt it was time to know more than what I currently know, hence why I went back to school.

5.HOW DO YOU MANAGE YOUR STUDIES AND VIDEO/FILM MAKING CAREER TOGETHER?

To be honest, I don’t know how to answer this question Bunmi. Lol. I think it’s the work ethic gene I got from my father. He’s my inspiration when it comes to getting work done without sleep or rest (which sometimes comes back to bite me health wise lol). But no complaints. Lol.

6.WHAT DOES MAVRIK STAND FOR?

The name “MäVrik” came from the word “Maverick” which was my nickname. A maverick is one that cannot be “branded”. I’m always independent when it comes to my actions and I hardly “play by the rules”, especially when it comes to my craft. This gives room fro creativity in my work. :-)

7.WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION FOR VIDEOS?

Inspiration comes from everywhere. I take inspiration from other filmmakers’ works and I put my twist to them or I might hear a song and be inspired by the words or feeling I get from them, or hell, I can look at you and make a video based on what I get from you. Lol.

8.ARE YOU A ONE MAN COMPANY?

I started out as a one-man-band-man. But I’m now in the process of adding some pretty interesting players that take the brand to a higher level. Shout out to my PR and dawg for life Ayo Oludoyi a.k.a “AY Stunna”. This guy has helped me big time. I got too much love and respect for this guy. Salute!

9.DO YOU INTEND ON GOING INTO FILM MAKING?

As a matter of fact I do intend on going into it. I started a project called “Day Before Yesterday”, which is a short film, but unfortunately had to put the pause on it due to circumstances beyond my control. But I’ll resume work on it when all is well by His Grace. :-)

10.SO FAR, WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR GREATEST MOMENT IN THE INDUSTRY YOU’RE IN?

My first paid gig back in 2007 is the greatest moment for me. That was me coming out of my comfort zone. That was MäVrik being born. That was me believing in my craft so much that the current owner of Maya Club hired me to cover his wedding! God is good! Lol. Everytime I think about it, the hairs on the back of my neck rise because I remember how friggin’ scared I was back then.

11.OUT OF ALL THE VIDEO’S YOU’VE MADE WHICH WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR FAVORITE?

Mehn, that’s a tough one. Lol. It’s like me answering which of my babies do I love the best? Lol. I love and cherish all my videos equally to be honest. Lol.

12.HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO SHOOT/ EDIT A VIDEO/MOVIE?

It depends on what project it is. It ranges from the space of hours to weeks/months.

13 NOW WE’RE ABOUT TO GET A BIT PERSONAL, ARE YOU IN A RELATIONSHIP? IF SO, HOW LONG? IF NOT, WHY?

Lol! *blush* I am currently single as a slice of cheese *dry joke*. Why am I single? Lol. I think it’s because I’m career focused at the moment. I am searching though so you never know, Idahosa James Osagie might find a woman soon. Lol.

14.OTHER THAN FILM/VIDEO MAKING DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER AREASE OF INTEREST?

Ofcourse. I love music, sometimes I dabble into making it (haven’t done that in a while though). I might sound geeky by saying this but I love reading technology based magazines. Lol. Hey, I need to keep up with the 21st century gadgets, especially in my craft. :-)

15.HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING THE MAN BEHIND THE CAMERA, DO YOU EVER FEEL LIKE YOU ARENT GETTING ENOUGH RECOGNITION?

It feels fantastic being the man behind the camera! You get to call the shots. Lol. As for “getting enough recognition” as a director, I’m not too bothered about that to be honest. As long as people like my work, I’m content with that. They don’t have to know the guy behind the camera. Lol.

16 WHAT FILM MAKERS/DIRECTORS DO YOU LOOK UP TO IN NIGERIA AND BEYOND?

In Nigeria, I only look at material by Clarence Peters, Bobby Boulders, Zeb Ejiro, Amaka Igwe, AK One & DJ Tee.
International wise, I look at works by Steven Spielberg, Gary F. Gray, Little X, Spiff TV, Hype Williams, Jerry Bruckheimer, and works by upcoming film directors/companies (them plenty on top Youtube lol)

17.DO YOU INTEND ON GOING INTO FILM MAKING/DIRECTING FULL TIME?

Definitely. That’s the life for me.

18.WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS?

In the next 10 years, I see myself on a chair with the label “DIRECTOR” behind it, and me saying, “Okay we got tape rolling…and, ACTION!” Lol.

19.THERE ARE A COUPLE OF DIRECTORS/FILM MAKERS IN NIGERIA AT THE MOMENT,WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT?

What makes me stand out from every competition out there in Naija is my “ever advancing look” in my videos. Not one of my videos are the same, but with my competition, you tend to see the same concepts being repeated. Whether it’s lighting, editing, etc. I tend to play with my videos rather than work on them. ;-) lol.

20. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE NIGERIAN FILM/VIDEO INDUSTRY IS LACKING AND CAN FILL THE VOID?

The Nigerian Film Industry lacks patience. They got the finances no doubt. The talent is there. The market is there. But the patience to really put a nicely edited film together is what they lack. Hence, why every week in Nigeria, a new movie is released. If somebody can sit down to carefully construct a proper Nigerian film, get a good team together, hire good actors (no need to be celebs), and invest time in making it close to perfect, I believe that film will make it to the “Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film” category at the Oscars. Take my word.

21. IS THERE A MAVRICK PRODUCTION COMING ANYTIME SOON THAT WE SHOULD BE LOOKING FORWARD TO?There is always something from MäVrik Films to look forward to. I won’t tell you what the next one is. Just keep watching. Something is in the works at the moment ;-) lol.

22. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER UPCOMING ARTISTES?

Never think an idea is too stupid or daft. That will only limit your full potential. Go for it, and if it doesn’t work go for the next idea. One of them is bound to work. Trust me ;-) lol.

23.ANY LAST WORDS FOR YOUR FANS?

I don’t call them fans, I call them friends. Lol. I want to say a BIG THANK YOU for the love, the support and the prayers. Just reading your comments alone on every video I’ve directed brings smiles and sometimes tears of joy to my eyes. I will always love each and every one of you. God bless you all. And for the ones that hate, I love una too. Lol.

Shout out to GidiNoize for this! You guys friggin’ rock!
I stay loyal to una government! Ultra Salute to y’all!
God bless!

G.Y.E PRESENTS MOTI CAKES-”I ALWAYS HAD A LOVE AFFAIR WITH THE FUNK AND EXCITEMENT OF PERFORMING AND RIPPING BEATS”.

Moti Cakes

So basically, Moti Cakes is one of the best rappers of our time and I’m not even playing, I mean how many young people have you heard got featured on tracks by renowned artistes well you just heard of one–>Moti Cakes.Having been surrounded by music since the tender age of 8, you can rightfully say that music is second nature to him.We at GidiNoize were privileged to have an interview with this talented young man, so sit back, relax and enjoy!

GidiNoize Interviews Moti Cakes.

1.WHO IS MOTI CAKES?

Moti Cakes is a devoted student to the art form of spitttin dope rhymes.
Surrounded by music since the tender age of 8, I would like to think of
myself as a sample of everything I love about rap music. I think I
approach the mic like a ballerina or bugs bunny, u kno? Just hopping on
the track and bouncing.

2.CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND(EDUCATIONAL,FAMILY)?

Growing up in lagos, I attended Greensprings school, this is were I
polished my skills lol, that was when I started performing at school
events. After high school I moved to Florida to finish my studies there
hooked up with guitarist Sam Kugz and I got into the undergrown miami
hip hop scene, performing at several parties and shows.

3.WHEN DID YOU REALIZE MUSIC WAS YOUR CALLING?

I can’t really pin point exactly when, but I would say, I always had a
love affair with the funk and excitement of performing and ripping
beats, I always got overwhelmed everytime I heaRd a dope rhyme like”did u
hear what buddy said?”.

4.WHAT GENRE ARE YOU INTO AND WHY?

Oh wow, I am soo hip hop baby,my first obsession was with east coast
hard core rap thanks to influences from biggie, jay and nas, then I
later re fell in love with the old school true school sounds of a tribe
called quest and de la soul.

6.BEING A YOUNG ARTISTE COMES WITH A LOT OF CRITICISM AND DISAPPROVAL
ESPECIALLY FROM PARENTS ,HOW DO YOU COPE WITH THAT?

Actually, I’ve never really had that problem, my parents have always
been aware of my love for music and agenda, and they have been really
supportive of my dreams, and goals.

8.WHAT HAS BEEN THE GREATEST MOMENT OF YOUR MUSICAL CAREER?

Well, I wouldn’t say I’ve had a greatest moment yet, am still fresh out
the oven, but in December of 09′ I was in Port Harcourt in a studio
working on a song and to cut the long story short, Timaya heard me spit
on a track and he featured me on one his songs for his Dem Mama Soljas
album that same day, we then exchanged contacts and we met up in Lagos
4 days later to work on another song for his album, so yeah that was
pretty cool.

9.OUTSIDE THE MUSIC SCENE WHO IS MOTI CAKES?

Outside music, am really all about SB chillin, rollin up and vibin, Am
all about my manchester united, am all about fly kicks(I love shoes), am
still all about good music all day. I don’t like flying, so going back
to gidi in christmas is always a scary movie, but I am still one of the
flyest indeed lol

10.ARE YOU SINGLE?LOL

I never had a twin lol

11.APART FROM MUSIC DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER AREAS OF INTEREST?

Music has always been my main thing, but on the side I like to collect
sneakers, I admire the story each one tells lol. I used to play
football, now just on xbox, but I support my old trafford man u boys to
the casket.

12.DO YOU INTEND ON GOING INTO MUSIC FULL TIME?

Yes I intend to make my mark in the industry.

13.WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS?

In 10 years I would hope to have maybe 3 classic albums under my belt
and get on my diddy and russel hustle and start plotting a take over of
the naija music industry lol.

14.THERE ARE A COUPLE OF YOUNG ARTISTES IN THE NIGERIAN MUSIC
INDUSTRY,WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT?

Good question, out of everybody that’s out right now, I feel am one of
the few who actually acknowledge that they are students of the genre, u
feel me? I feel like my style and swag represents a lot of the good old
vibe hip hop once had, people tell me one of my greater advantages is
that I am really versatile and my delivery is very unique, but I just
thing ikno how to rock a beat well, its the simple things that count.

15. GROWING UP,WHO WERE YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?

R.I.P, B.I.G, I loved the big poppa flow it was so ahead of his time, I
listen to a lot of 90′s hip hop, I try to get inspiration right from the
source so as to not be too influenced with the music of more present
times if u dig what I am saying?
Am all about my Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Biggie, Early Nas n Jay,
Method Man and Lauren Hill.

16. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE NIGERIAN MUSIC INDUSTRY IS LACKING AND CAN
FILL THE VOID?

In defense of the Naija music industry, in the last couple of years it
has come a long way from what it used to be, so mad props to all the big
names in the industry right now that made that happen, with that said,
the rap industry is still looking for that act who’s gonna take the
music to the next level, a lot of artist out now are kind of corny,
because they tend to try and copy other peoples styles rather than
present something original.

18. WHATS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND YOUR SONGS?

I tend to let the instrumental influence the direction I take on a
track, am not a gangsta rapper, I tend to focus on wordplay, metaphors
and floetry, I still drop knowledge too lol.

19. IS THERE AN ALBUM OR MIXTAPE IN THE WORKS AND WHEN CAN WE EXPECT IT
TO DROP?

Yes, Yes definitely, the “PepeSprayActivites” EP is in effect, coming
out March 2010, its an online release, it will be availiable for
download, about 8 tracks deep, every track sounds like a hit to me lol.
The idea was just to introduce my self to the people as something else,
am trying to feel the void and be that other vibe we need, D’banj is
hot, M.I is hot, but giv it a listen its somthing else, I dey tell u.

20. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER UPCOMING ARTISTES?

Bros, don’t be afraid to be different, if not ur always gonna be under
someone elses shadow, swagga jacking is not coool.

21.ANY LAST WORDS FOR YOUR FANS?

You are very much appreciated, and I love you too, and for more info

G.Y.E PRESENTS TAMARAKORO-”I STARTED WRITING IN JSS2 & EVER SINCE THEN IT’S BEEN A JOURNEY OF A MILLION MILES THAT BEGAN WITH ONE STROKE OF A PEN”.

TamaraKoro Ogedegbe

Born in Nigeria, TamaraKoro (pronounced Tah-mah-rah-kor and meaning Power of God) practices the art of lyricism accompanied by a stylistically diverse flow that separates him from the rest of the pack.Born Tamarakoro Samuel Tabunor Ogedegbe, though based in the US, TamaraKoro is never ashamed to let his African roots shine in the message behind his songs or in his ‘breath of fresh air’ vocals. We at GidiNoize were proviledged to have a word with this talented young man.

GidiNoize Interviews TamaraKoro

1.WHO IS TAM?

Tam is Tamarakoro Ogedegbe, Nigerian born and Nigerian raised (I’m not half cast).
I grew up in Lagos but I am originally from Warri, Delta State and I am Ijaw ethnically.
My name means Power of God and was graciously bestowed upon me by my grandfather.

2. CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND (EDUCATIONAL, FAMILY)?

I grew up in a hardworking home and my parents are still married, I went to R.I.S
(Redeemer’s International School) for primary education and Whitesands/Grange for

secondary schooling. I am currently a Marketing Major at Virginia Tech in the US.

3. WHEN DID YOU REALIZE MUSIC WAS YOUR CALLING?

There was no “moment” or epiphany it was just the music that I grew up listening to
and developed a sincere but severe passion for. I started writing in Jss2 (I believe) and ever

since then it’s been a journey of a million miles that began with one stroke of a pen.

4. WHAT GENRE ARE YOU INTO AND WHY?

Rap. For the simple fact that I love to use and manipulate words when expressing
myself and rapping incorporates rhythm which we as Africans are known to have a

‘thing’ for. I listened to artists in the genre that made me want to ‘spit’
better than they were at that point in time with reason and purpose adding

more value.

5. HOW DO YOU MANAGE YOUR STUDIES & MUSICAL CAREER TOGETHER?

I have to see myself as a juggler, this puts me in the frame of mind whereby I have
to tackle more than 1 thing and keep the rhythm flowing without dropping the ball.

The sadness and the economical demolition of various social infrastructures and
corporations lets me know that if we are going to have anything in this world we
have to go out and get it and stop waiting to be spoon fed, so that thought alone
helps recharge my focus when its dwindling.

6. BEING A YOUNG ARTISTE COMES WITH A LOT OF CRITICISM AND DISAPPROVAL ESPECIALLY FROM PARENTS, HOW DO YOU COPE WITH THAT?

I thank God for giving me supporting and understanding parents. They have allowed
me to blossom and to grow without any hindrance or condemnation but they never fail

to remind me of priorities and things that matter the most in this life. So in this case I’m

coping real well because they hardly give me any problems regarding my music.

7. WE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU HAVE PERFORMED AT A COUPLE OF SHOWS CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THEM?

I did a performance in Atlanta, GA at a fashion show called Runway Madness. It was a showcase of
African talent in the entertainment and fashion industry. The second show I did was at the Vinyl House

in Virginia for Valentine’s eve. Both shows were experiences I enjoyed, I just went out there and

showed the world where I stand as an artist and the people received me very well and gave me good

feedback. As an artist who is just starting up and building buzz this to me cannot be more key because

it is a morale booster to know that people outside your immediate network of friends can appreciate what

you are doing.

8. WHAT HAS BEEN THE GREATEST MOMENT OF YOUR MUSICAL CAREER?

I cannot say there is a greatest because every time I get a new idea for a song, beat or style of lyricism
I feel I’m going higher and higher, so therefore I keep prospecting great things so there are a lot of moments.

9. OUTSIDE THE MUSIC SCENE WHO IS TAM?

Tam is a student of life and a lover of God (Father, Son, Holy Ghost) and life in general. I try to know a little bit about everything around me and I analyse all
things I perceive. I try to strike a balance between the spiritual and physical, work and leisure, and all things I am

involved in at any given point in time. I love to party and hang out with friends in order to have a good time. Plus I love the
girls, ladies and women in and that are about to be in my life!!!!

10. ARE YOU SINGLE? LOL

For now I am

11.APART FROM MUSIC DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER AREAS OF INTEREST?

Planet Earth

12.DO YOU INTEND ON GOING INTO MUSIC FULL TIME?

Yes without an iota of a doubt

13. WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS?

I see myself on the global stage adding value to people’s lives in a positive way, producing quality music
that would make a formidable impact on my generation and above all enlighten the masses.

14. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF YOUNG ARTISTES IN THE NIGERIAN MUSIC INDUSTRY, WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT?

I possess a global appeal and the goals I have to accomplish are bigger than me. I see my music as
a forum of expression whereby I can share with people who I am, what I think of the world around me and

how each of us have business on this planet to handle. I produce beats, rap my lyrics and mix my songs.
I believe I stand for the new age artist who is independent and versatile with depth of knowledge and skill,
focused on a vision and is constantly getting bigger and better.

15. GROWING UP, WHO WERE YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?

Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Rakim, Nas, Biggie, 2pac just to name the key ones.

16. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE NIGERIAN MUSIC INDUSTRY IS LACKING AND CAN FILL THE VOID?

The Nigerian Music Industry lacks solid infrastructure that can support artists and promote
creativity with wider streams of revenue. We need publishing companies that would make sure

artists get their monies and necessary royalties, copyright offices that would protect the intellectual works of artists.

We need to develop our internet efficiency because this is where the future of music in this world lies, so I believe we

need to beef up our e-capacity in that respect. And above all, a leader who can set a standard with/for the music industry
and also lead the way into the future.

17. DO YOU WRITE YOUR OWN RAPS/SONGS?

Yes I do

18. WHATS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND YOUR SONGS?

Entertainment and Enlightenment

19. IS THERE AN ALBUM OR MIXTAPE IN THE WORKS AND WHEN CAN WE EXPECT IT TO DROP?

I am currently working on a mix tape series called Chop Mic Specials and the first is Tear Rubber, it should be
dropping before summer.

20. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER UPCOMING ARTISTES?

Patience, purpose and practice.

21. ANY LAST WORDS FOR YOUR FANS?

I am here today, will be here tomorrow and a very long time after that (God willing) so keep your eyes and
ears on me.

G.Y.E PRESENTS TOSIN OKI-’FOR ME MUSIC HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY LOVE,NOTHING ELSE’

TOSIN OKI

Born on the 22nd of March 1991,Tosyn found music at the age of 11. He used to sing harmonies along with songs of his favourite artists such as Usher,Michael Jackson,Aaliyah,Evanescence, etc.Tosyn is not only an artiste but also a Law student at the prestigious University of Bristol, having had the chance to speak and exchange tweets with Tosin numerous times, we at GidiNoize can confidently say that Tosin is a very humble, down to earth, intelligent and talented individual. We are GidiNoize were privileged to interview the man himself.

GidiNoize Interviews Tosin Oki.

1.WHO IS TOSIN OKI?
Tosyn is that young, music addict from Gidi with a crazy sense of humour(I love laughing.lol).He’s a law student singer, songwriter and lover of fashion.
